Sumo Email Marketing Tool

Sumo offers free and paid tools to automate the growth of your business including tools specifically created to help you grow your email list. Their primary tool-set includes a list builder, welcome mat, smart bar, and share buttons.

Overview

Who Sumo is For:

Sumo is a valuable tool for any business using WordPress to help them grow their email list. This includes online course businesses. Email is a great channel for telling prospects and customers about updates to your course, promotions, warming them up to enroll, and many other revenue increasing activities.

Skill Level:

Sumo was created so you can start collecting more email addresses quickly and easily. While there are a ton of options for growing your list within this single tool, once you’ve decided which apps you want to use, it’s a snap to set-up.

Deployment:

You’ll login to your Sumo account online. From there, you can choose your account settings. If you’re using WordPress you’ll need to download and install the WordPress plugin. You can manage the apps from within WordPress once the plugin is installed.

Special Features:

The Sumo list builder forms and welcome mat look really great compared to a lot of email opt-in forms. They’re eye-catching and have interesting triggers that will be hard for your visitors to ignore. The welcome mats also look great and are hard to ignore. These are perfect for your home page and will no doubt increase your sign-ups. You can set advanced triggers for each of them so you don’t annoy repeat visitors to your site. In addition, unlike a lot of email tools, Sumo also offers a Smart Bar. I’ve paid for bars like these separately in the past because I think they work really well so I like how they’re bundled with the rest of the opt-in tools.

Disadvantages:

You can definitely gain value out of the free tools Sumo. The only downside is the the $49/month price tag for their paid plan. It’s a great product though and you can always give it a try to see how the free plan works out for you. If it’s worth it, then upgrade to the paid plan and if not, try something else.
